A stronger security posture to keep your archived assets protected

Cybersecurity threats are continuously evolving, and passwords alone are no longer enough to protect your preserved heritage.

At Preferred Media, we have now mandated Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) using One – Time Passwords (OTP) to deliver stronger account security for all digital portal users.

This added a layer of protection and ensures that only authorised users can access their preserved assets – even if passwords are compromised.

Why MFA Matters

Single-factor authentication (password-only) leaves accounts vulnerable to:

  • Phishing attacks
  • Credential theft
  • Brute-force attacks

As cyber threats grow more sophisticated, organisations must adopt stronger measures to protect information assets and maintain trust.

How It Works

Since 11th April 2025, all Digital Archive users will now be required to enter a one-time password from an authentication application during login to Preferred Connection. Physical Archive users will be upgraded in 2026.

  • Log in with your username and password
  • Set up MFA using an authenticator app (Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator)
  • Scan the QR code or follow setup instructions
  • Enter the OTP when prompted to complete login

Benefits

  • Enhanced Security: Protects accounts even if passwords are compromised
  • Simple Setup: Quick and easy configuration using widely available apps
  • Peace of Mind: Reduces risk of unauthorised access and data breaches

In conjunction with MFA we also offer single sign on for organisations that want seamless access to their assets using their own corporate identity management service.
